Q) Gay, is that just men?
A) Gay people may be men or women; they are exclusively attracted to members of their own sex. However, the term is normally used to refer to homosexual men.

Q) Aren't gay people just in it for the sex?
A) NO! Just like heterosexual (straight) people they aren't attracted to everyone who fits that definition. However all the people they do find themselves attracted to belong to their sex.

Q) Lesbian, what's that?
A) Lesbians are women who are exclusively attracted to other women.

Q) Bisexuals, isn't that just greedy? What does it really mean?
A) Bisexuals are people who are attracted to people from both sexes. They may find sex ('physical gender') irrelevant and find something else more important in defining their attractions or they may be attracted to men for one reason and women for another. Just because bisexual people are capable of being attracted to more than one sex doesn't mean they are any more likely to be unfaithful than anyone else, after all everyone is attracted to more than one person...

Q) What does transgender mean?
A) Transgender(ed) people are people (of both sexes) whose gender (the 'sex' of their mind) is not the same as their physical sex in some way or people who transgress (break) the rules and stereotypes that are artificially attached to the genders 'male' and 'female', 'man' and 'woman'.

There are many different kinds of transgender conditions:

There are also countless other types of transgendered people, there are people who feel like or present like no gender, both genders or their own unique genders and there are people who have multiple combinations of the above.

Q) What does curious/questioning/confused mean?
A) Curious, questioning and confused people may think that perhaps they might fit one of the above definitions but are not yet sure. These people are welcome at the LGBT Society and no assumptions will be placed upon them for joining. Meeting other LGBT people helps questioning people decide who or what they are.
