A LondonMet LGBT and Film[making] Society collaboration.

Gay-thematic Spanish comedy that comments upon the property boom in the most popular nation’s gayborhood.

Evoking the comic insanity of early Pedro Almodóvar, Boystown is a raucous farce about an outlandish murder/mystery plot and the gay couple caught up in the middle of it all. Sinisterly handsome Victor, a real estate agent in Madrid’s gentrifying, candy-colored “gayborhood,” hides a wicked little secret – he murders old ladies then flips their renovated flats to upwardly-mobile gays. When bearish working class lovers Rey and Leo inherit the latest victim’s apartment, they move Rey’s acerbic mother in. Now it’s up to an eccentric detective, her sexually confused son and the unwitting couple to uncover the murderous scheme before he strikes again.

Director: Juan Flahn
Writer: Juan Flahn, Dunia Ayaso & Féliz Sabroso (based on a comic book by ‘Rafa’)
Genre: Comedy

Cast: Carlos Fuentes, Pepón Nieto, Pablo Puyol, Concha Velasco, Eduard Soto, Rosa María Sardá

Original Music by David San José

Cinematography by Juan Carlos Lausin

Film Editing by Ascen Marchena

Brighton Pride

Venue: Brighton Seafront, City Centre & Preston Park

Date: 2008-08-02 / Time: All Day

Most of those that went to Brighton Pride 2007 said it was the best ever. London may be famous, but the city just carries on around the parade. Brighton pretty much comes to a standstill, and Preston Park could fit 20 Trafalgar Squares into it with ease!

Be there... its the event of the year!

More info at http://www.brightonpride.org/

Remember to invite all your LGBT & LGBT-friendly mates to this event.

I've been asked to remind you that Brighton Pride is a free to enter event - but they need money off people to make it stay that way - otherwise it will have to change.

Last year on the park they raised £20,000 - that means 17p per person. So they need your money to help

One way is to become a member of Pride for just £20 and that means you get access to all the luxurious toilets and members area on the day, with no queues!

Pride London

Venue: London

Date: 2008-07-05 / Time: All Day

In the 35 years since Pride in London began the LGBT community has truly 'come out'. 2005 saw the introduction of Civil Partnerships for same sex couples and we have recently seen the end of other homophobic laws including Section 28.

Pride is fully inclusive and now embraces our growing acceptance in the world of politics, business, media and entertainment. However there is still a long way to go and Pride is committed to tackling issues including bullying, discrimination and homophobic abuse.

Pride London is now in its Fourth year as a registered charity. The organisation is run by volunteers. Our aim is to produce a highly professional Pride Festival and an annual Pride Day comprising a Parade through central London, a politically based Rally and free entertainment in central London. Our mission is also to raise awareness for the LGBT community.

Pride London NEVER charges the Public for any of the events on the Main Day which is this year 5th July 2008.

THIS YEARS THEME FOR PRIDE LONDON IS
"FAIRY TALES,- MYTH'S AND LEGENDS.

What we make will get shown on the main stage at Pride to tens of thousands of people!

This is the annual meeting where people are elected to be officers, we look at the constitution and our campaigns (it won't be boring!).

We will also use this meeting to plan all events between now and Christmas - so you should come! Have your say and then get q-jump at Ghetto afterwards!

Emergency Demonstration – Fri 19th Oct - Contact Us if you are going.

Venue:

Date: 2007-10-19 / Time:

On the 2nd October two young men in the Saudi Arabian city of Al-Bahah were convicted of ‘sodomy’ and sentenced to 7,000 lashes. The lashes were carried out in stages over the course of three weeks and the sentence has now been carried out. In Saudi Arabia being gay, lesbian or bisexual is illegal and the maximum penalty is death.

This year NUS LGBT Campaign is campaigning for ‘Love without Borders’. Around the world, LGBT people are persecuted, imprisoned and even murdered in state-sponsored homophobia. We live in a global community and no longer can we stand by while LGBT people are persecuted. Now is the time to use our freedom to fight for the rights of others across the globe. When abuses of human rights take place we must not be silent.

To this end NUS LGBT campaign, working with partnership organisations, will be organising an emergency demonstration outside the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia, 30 Charles Street, London, W1J 5DZ at 1.30pm on Friday 19th October. We call on individuals and groups, LGBT or otherwise to protest against the continued criminalisation, imprisonment, torture and murder of LGBT people in Saudi Arabia. We will be handing a letter of protest to the Saudi Ambassador, HRH Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf, calling on his Government to respect the human rights of its own LGBT citizens.

Please join us in the struggle for Love without Borders – LGBT rights around the world - and make your views known to the Saudi Ambassador on Friday.

Yours in pride
